Big Data Exchange (BDx), a carrier-neutral data center operator in Asia, today announced the launch of its 35-megawatt NKG data center campus in Nanjing, China, with its first 4-megawatt phase, NKG1, going live. Notably, this project adds to the existing data center portfolio of Big Data Exchange (BDx) in Mainland China (Guangzhou), Hong Kong, and Singapore.

In terms of ownership, Big Data Exchange (BDx) is part of HGC Global Communications, which is owned by infrastructure private equity firm I Squared Capital.

Nanjing (NKG1) – Data Center

BDx’s NKG data center campus is located in the city of Nanjing and the province of Jiangsu which forms part of the Yangtze River Delta megalopolis, a key import and export hub. Phase 1 of the Big Data Exchange (BDx) campus, known as the NKG1 facility, offers 4.0 megawatts of IT power for colocation.

Customers

BDx targets over-the-top (OTT) media service providers, financial services institutions, and Fortune 500 multi-national corporations.

Technical Specifications

NKG1 sources power from two substations which provide the NKG campus with 60 MVA of total power from the grid. Additionally, the NKG1 facility has Tier III certifications from the Uptime Institute for its design.

Big Data Exchange (BDx) – Data Center Portfolio

Overall, Big Data Exchange (BDx) will have 7 data centers, including all facilities at its Nanjing, China data center campus, once fully built-out. Specifically, the company’s portfolio will comprise 56 megawatts of power capacity, across 960k sqft (89.2k sqm) of gross area. Geographically, these BDx sites are located in Mainland China, Hong Kong, and Singapore.

Mainland China

In Mainland China, BDx will offer 40.3 megawatts of power capacity, across 644k sqft (59.8k sqm) of gross area at full build-out.

Guangzhou (CAN1) – Operational

CAN1 comprises 5.3 megawatts of power capacity, across 81k sqft (7.5k sqm) of gross area.

Nanjing (NKG1) – Operational

NKG1 comprises 4.0 megawatts of power capacity, across 135k sqft (12.5k sqm) of gross area. Indeed, NKG1 is the first operational facility at the Big Data Exchange (BDx) Nanjing campus.

Nanjing (NKG2) – Development

NKG2 will comprise 20.0 megawatts of power capacity, across 277k sqft (25.7k sqm) of gross area, once fully built-out. BDx plans to launch NKG2, which is Phase 2 of its NKG data center campus, during 2021.

Nanjing (NKG3+) – Development

NKG3+ will comprise 11.0 megawatts of power capacity, across ~150k sqft (~14.0k sqm) of gross area, once fully built-out.

Hong Kong

In Hong Kong, BDx offers 8.1 megawatts of overall power capacity, across 161k sqft (14.9k sqm) of gross area.

Hong Kong, Island (HKG1) – Operational

HKG1 comprises 4.5 megawatts of overall power capacity, across 120k sqft (11.1k sqm) of gross area.

Hong Kong, New Territories (HKG2) – Operational

HKG2 comprises 3.6 megawatts of overall power capacity, across 41k sqft (3.8k sqm) of gross area.

Singapore

Singapore, Paya Lebar (SIN1) – Operational

SIN1 comprises 7.6 megawatts of overall power capacity, across 155k sqft (14.4k sqm) of gross area.
